The Music Minor combines courses in music theory, history,
and world music, with practical application through ensemble
participation and applied music study. This combination of
the academic and practical strives to offer students a more
profound understanding of the art of music, and in a broader
sense an introduction to cultural development and the communication
of ideas.
The music minor requires 20 credits of upper-level music
offerings. At least four credits must be for ensemble participation,
four credits from Music Theory I and four credits from an
upper-level music history course. The remaining eight credits
are fulfilled through additional upper-level music history,
theory and world music courses, and ensemble participation.
